Céline Macadam Bucket Bag – Coated canvas and leather

The Macadam bucket bag belongs to the period when Céline featured its Triomphe motif on coated canvas, a design inspired by the chains of the Arc de Triomphe near the house. The silhouette is that of a soft bucket bag closed with a drawstring, which slumps beautifully when carried and stands upright once set down. Short handle or long shoulder strap: the bag can be carried both ways without changing its style. The contrast between the brown canvas and the natural patinated cowhide is what gives these vintage pieces all their character.

The Macadam canvas is clean and supple, with no cracking, peeling, or lifting at the seams. The cowhide leather has developed an even, warm cognac patina, more pronounced on the short handle and at the attachment points, where some darkening from use is visible. The brass rings, eyelets, and lobster clasps show slight surface tarnishing, with no pitting or significant loss of plating. The side zipper glides normally; its puller shows wear to the gold plating. The leather lining is in good condition, marked by storage creases, with no tears, signs of moisture, or odors. The corners, edges, and base are intact.

Note: several small, scattered black marks are embedded in the canvas on the front, spread over about ten centimeters below the drawstring. They do not come off with gentle cleaning and are barely visible from a distance when carried, but they are real: they are documented in close-up in the last photo and are reflected in the price.

Sold with its original removable strap. Delivered without a dust bag or original invoice.
