Vintage Chanel Wallet on Chain in black quilted lambskin — gold-plated hardware

The Wallet on Chain condenses Chanel's vocabulary into a hand-held format: diamond quilting, CC turn-lock, and leather-intertwined chain. This one belongs to Series 1, a production from the late 1980s — the era when the house still used gold-plated hardware, warmer and deeper than today's gold tone. Worn over the shoulder or as a short crossbody, it slips anywhere a larger bag would be too much. Comes with its original card of authenticity.

Condition — Grade B-

Restored piece whose exterior and interior are in two very different conditions.

The exterior has been retanned: the lambskin presents a uniform and deep black, without cracks or pressure marks, and the quilting has kept its relief. The corners and the base are clean, without through wear. The gold-plated hardware retains its shine; the back plate of the lock shows some micro-scratches. The chain is complete and its intertwined leathers are intact.

The interior, however, has aged poorly in storage: the lining coating has peeled off on the majority of the compartments, leaving the burgundy backing exposed in large patches. The CHANEL stamp remains legible. The card of authenticity shows marked scratches from use.

Note: the deterioration of the lining is significant and irreversible without restoration by a leatherworker. It is fully documented in photos (images 17 to 19) and included in the price. The bag remains functional and nothing is visible once the flap is closed, but the interior is not presentable — plan an interior pouch if you store small items in it. Dust bag and original invoice not provided.
